PERFECT PEACE

Peace is a spiritual fruit that brings inner harmony which allows the Spirit of God to be heard and obeyed. When you have peace, then you can listen to God and make the right decision. The Lord desires to work in us to will, to give us the desire, and to do, to produce fruitful works, of His good pleasure (that which gives Him glory). The great attack of the enemy is always against that inner harmony in the born again one, because he knows that if the BAO cannot hear God, then he cannot obey God, and thus becomes powerless, like an unsaved person. Panic is a technique of the enemy to stampede the masses of humanity into doing his will. The born again one must be strong to resist the flow of unbelief and panic in any situation…
Let’s look at some clear, simple principles that produce the fruit of peace in us!
What do you fill yourself with every day? In our intern teacher training, our students seek to read the whole Bible twice in a year. This challenge requires them to read at least ten chapters a day. I challenge them to do this because I know how important it is to be full of the Word of God in order to have peace, to receive revelation. When you have peace, then you can listen…
But whoever listens to me will dwell safely, and will be secure, without fear of evil. Prov. 1:33 NKJV
Who is speaking here? The wisdom of the Word of God is speaking as a person. Those who turn their attention to, listen to and obey the Word of God will be safe and at ease, without fear of evil. They will have peace!
(Let me speak to you ‘professional Christians’ for a minute – you full time servants of God. Brothers and sisters, if you are not reading at least ten chapters of the Word every day, your car is running out of gas, and you will soon see your ministry slowly grind to a halt.)
My son, do not forget my law, but let your heart keep my commands; for length of days and long life and peace they will add to you. Prov. 3:1-2 NKJV
Let me speak a word about unresolved conflicts, those little brush fires in your soul that scorch your internal landscape. Usually they are between loved ones, family members, and BAO’s in a household of believers…
Therefore if thou bring thy gift to the altar, and there rememberest that thy brother hath ought against thee; leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way; first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift. Matt 5:23-24 KJV
Here is one of the great reasons that tithing can be ineffective in releasing blessings – unresolved conflicts. Proverbs says that only by pride comes contention. Humble yourself and seek to be reconciled with your brother before you offer your offering. Paul wrote that we are not to let the sun go down upon our wrath…in other words, confront the conflict and put out the fire with humility, wisdom and love before it burns your house down, and you lose your peace.
Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you. 1 Peter 5:7 KJV
The old Pentecostals used to talk about ‘praying through’…in other words, praying until the glory came. They knew something about God that many of us have missed! Someone once taught me that you really haven’t prayed until something comes out of you, until something gets released out of your soul into the waiting arms of the Father. You see, until you release it, you are still holding on to that thing! God can’t fix it until you and I release it, bless God forever…
One or two nights of missed sleep in prayer are better than months of the torture of worry…
But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost… Jude 20 KJV
I love to workout, to exercise and build up strength in my physical body. But to work out effectively, you have to go beyond where you are comfortable. You have to endure the pain of real work. Most people it seems never exercise the gift of the Spirit until it really becomes effective in their lives. They speak in tongues perhaps five minutes a day…ask any fit person about a five-minute workout and they will laugh at you!
A friend of mine told me that God told him to teach people that they should pray in tongues more time each day than they watch television…this was back in the 90’s, so maybe we can update it to say “more time than they are on the internet or play video games…” Speaking in tongues will give you great peace, and many other benefits, but you have to pay the price…
The peace of God, and the ability to hear God clearly, simply means all the difference between true success and failure in life. What does it matter if you gain the whole world, and lose your own soul? What can you give in exchange for your soul? I don’t want to be ashamed before Him at His coming. Let’s get the perfect peace of God so that we can make the right decisions, and fulfill His purposes in our lives…
Remember dear ones, we must be about our Father’s business…
