DOCTOR JESUS

“…for I am the Lord, your Physician.” Exodus 15:16 literal translation

Protocol is almost a bad term in our modern culture. The traditional protocol that is borne out respect, love and the dignity of office, is ignored and even ridiculed. Men used to stand up for ladies, and hold the door open for them. We used to stand up when a man of God entered the room. No more! And yet, God honors protocol. Saul lost the kingdom because he broke the protocol by offering sacrifices before the prophet Samuel arrived at Gilgal. Is there a protocol in ministering healing?

But Peter put them all out, and knelt down and prayed. And turning to the body he said, “Tabitha, arise.” And she opened her eyes, and when she saw Peter she sat up. Acts 9:40 NKJV

Have you ever asked yourself, “Why did Peter kneel down to pray before commanding Tabitha to arise from the dead?” Not every miracle in the Bible gives us the full details of what happened regarding that miracle, and why it happened. It doesn’t tell us how long he kneeled and prayed, or even what he prayed about. But I believe he was waiting until the great Physician showed up before he started to minister to her.

If you had a meeting that involved the president of the United States, would you start the meeting without him? Of course not! Why? Is he God? No, he is just a man…but a very important man. Then why would you try to minister healing without the manifested presence of the Healer? People might say, I am acting on my faith. Wasn’t Peter acting on his faith when he was praying and waiting? Do you have a better ‘faith record’ than the apostle who walked on water? I think we would be far more effective in ministry if we would learn to pray and wait, rather than rushing into something.

What does it mean for God to ‘show up’?

There are two great realities regarding the presence of God: there is the promised presence, and there is the manifested presence. The promised presence is the presence of God that is promised in the Word; for instance, that Christ is in you, the hope of glory. He is always present as the promised presence. But He is not always present as the manifested presence. The manifested presence is when the Spirit of God comes upon you (or the person or the situation) in power. This is God ‘showing up.’

The manifested presence is recognized by your operating in the gift of discerning of spirits, bless God forever! You discern the manifested presence of God by that revelation gift. Jesus said that He always did what He saw the Father doing. As a man, He saw what the Father was doing by the gift of discerning of spirits. Then, He could follow Him. You and are to do the same thing. Pray and wait, an see in your spirit what Doctor Jesus is doing…then follow Him!

Remember, dear ones, we must be about our Father’s business…
