DAY OF DAYS

But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed. Isa 53:5 NKJV

The day of all days for all mankind was the one where Jesus took our sins and failures to the cross with Him, and paid the full price for them, so that we might be free.

It wasn’t a Friday, as Tradition teaches. The Scriptures say Jesus would be buried, in the heart of the earth, for three days and three nights, seventy two hours, as Jonah was in the belly of the whale. We know He was seen early Sunday morning, the first day of the week. So, He was raised sometime before that morning. The Word also tells us that He died about three pm and was buried before sunset. Assuming the Father would not keep Him in the ground one minute longer than He needed to, He was then raised sometime before sunset on Saturday. Counting back three days from Saturday sunset, we come to Wednesday. Jesus died and was buried on Wednesday.

Also, the traditional idea is that Jesus’ arrest in the garden, trials, scourging, crucifixion and death only took about twelve to sixteen hours. This also is not true. When you compare scriptures, you see that Jesus was brought before Pilate about noontime after His arrest the night before. Scripture also says that He was crucified about 9am. How could he be brought before Pilate if He was already on the cross for three hours?

The reality is that Jesus was arrested in the garden late on Monday evening, and approximately forty hours later, lay down His life on the cross, about 3pm on Wednesday afternoon, at precisely the same time the passover lamb was being chosen and killed. The Lamb of God became our passover forever on that day of days.

“Now My soul is troubled, and what shall I say? ‘Father, save Me from this hour’? But for this purpose I came to this hour. John 12:27 NKJV

I want you to see the great love of the Lord Jesus for you. Jesus chose to go to the cross for you. He had all the resources of Heaven to defend Him if He chose not to go. He could have quit His assignment of sacrifice and death, and used the armies of Heaven to establish His reign and rulership over the world. Who could oppose Him? But mankind would still be unredeemed and hell-bound. Jesus consciously…willingly…with decision beforehand… gave Himself to the torturers and death dealers, to pay the full price for your sins and mine.

Or do you think that I cannot now pray to My Father, and He will provide Me with more than twelve legions of angels? Matt 26:53 NKJV

You and I must freely, consciously and willingly commit ourselves to make the sacrifices necessary to fulfill the work that the body of Christ in our generation has been given to accomplish, even to the point of laying down our lives if necessary. There is no other way to follow our Master!

Consider what He suffered for you and for me:

Just as many were astonished at you, so His visage was marred more than any man, And His form more than the sons of men; Isa 52:14 NKJV

After His scourging and sentencing by Pilate early Tuesday afternoon, until He was led out to be crucified Wednesday morning, He was in the hands of the Roman soldiers. This eighteen hour period was without doubt filled with unspeakable torture. We know they platted a crown of thorns on His head and mocked Him with a purple robe. What other things happened to Him…the gospel writers were not permitted to speak about. But we know that the vilest of passions ran through the Roman armies…and this was Satan’s hour of vengeance on the Son of God.

Jesus endured it all for you and me, because He saw what we would become, if He just didn’t quit.

….looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame… Heb 12:2 NKJV

Have you ever wondered why God established feast days? Why do we celebrate Passover and Pentecost? Even, why do we celebrate the Lord’s supper, instituted on Monday evening of that awesome week? Observance of feasts and even Holy Communion remind us of what He has done, and help us to reaffirm our covenant relationship with the Lord ( even in the demonic religious world, feasts and festivals are very powerful spiritual realities, and are all about reaffirming covenant with their deities ). We have entered into covenant relationship with the Lord, and we reaffirm that relationship continually.

I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. Rom 12:1 NKJV

It’s time once again to renew our covenant with Him, to put ‘teeth’ to our Christianity, to put our hearts and our lives on the line to finish the work the Body has been given in our generation.

Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends. John 15:13 NKJV

We are on the verge of the greatest harvest of souls in all history. The Lord has given us His Word and the gifts of His Spirit to get the job done. Are we freely, consciously and willingly willing to give ourselves to the task? Since Pentecost, in every generation, the world has awaited the manifestation of the sons of God. It’s our time, our ‘day of days’ to manifest the glory of the Son of God, as sons of the Father! Do you have the love? Are you willing? YES!!!

Remember dear ones, we must be about our Father’s business…
