UNLEASHING THE GENIUS WITHIN

…and nothing will be impossible for you. Matt 17:20 NKJV

Psalms says that the heavens declare the glory of God, and they do it in distinct messages, but the reality is that all of the creation glorifies the Creator. Consider the human eye, for example. I’m told that in embryonic development, five hundred thousand nerve fibers grow from the retina, and their counterparts grow from the central brain, and each one has to meet and join its exact counterpart, thus enabling you to see. Amazing! Only a fool could say there is no God, no Creator. Equally amazing is the fact that that this amazing God dwells in you, and He seeks to impart His genius into you.

Jesus answered and said to him, “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him. John 14:23 NKJV

By the end of this article I want you to begin to think impossible thoughts, to dream impossible dreams, and begin to allow the Lord to show you how to walk into those realities, as He imparts genius into you.Releasing the genius of Christ inside will allow you to help shape the world around you for the kingdom of God, allowing the will of God to be done on earth as it is in Heaven.

Let’s take a minute to dwell on how to release the genius of Christ within you.

What exactly is a sound mind? Science tells us that we only use 10 – 15% of our brains potential. Is using 100% a sound mind? I think sometimes we are so ‘spiritually minded’ that we don’t acknowledge or use the divinely given natural attributes of our minds, like imagination. At our bible college we were challenged to ‘preach to the trees,’ which I did, but in my mind’s eye – my imagination – I was preaching to a thousand or more in a very large church. This has come to pass, many times over. But the catalyst of those later successes was conceived in a piney forest. Many times, we can’t get revelation because we have no paradigm for it. As a man thinks in his heart, so is he. Imagination plows the furrows of the mind so that revelation can be seeded there. Do you see it?

Curiosity, a natural component of the mind, is a huge key to unlocking the spirit realm. Why do things happen? The quest for WHY is going to allow God to unlock many great realities for you. They say that science is the study of how God works. Curiosity drives us to uncover the possibilities of God. Born again scientist George Washington Carver’s (look him up, its Black American history month! Star Parker wrote an interesting article about why there is a Black American history month, and not Hispanic, Asian, Native or ‘other’ history months. Star wrote that Black Americans as a people ancestrally were the only ones forced to come here, therefore they are unique…and she is right) curiosity about the possibilities of God drove him to discover over one hundred uses for the humble peanut.

Probably the greatest function of the soul that unlocks the spirit is passion or desire. You see this all the time, that a person whose passion is gone has one foot in the grave. When a person is brokenhearted their passion for life leaks out quickly and they become an empty shell of their former self. But Jesus is the Healer of broken hearts! When I get down, Jesus knows how to heal me. Many times He’ll show me what the devil is doing, and I’ll get so angry that I forget why I’m down and I get back in the game. Love inspired anger – a furious desire to rise above the mediocrity of hell. That’s passion!

But earnestly desire (Grk. ZELOO) the best gifts…1 Cor 12:31 NKJV

Pursue love, and desire (Grk. ZELOO) spiritual gifts…1 Cor 14:1 NKJV

As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous (Grk. ZELOO) therefore, and repent. Rev 3:19 NKJV

ZELOO, meaning passion, desire or zeal, is one of the great words in the Greek New Testament. Here are a number of its positive applications (you can have NEGATIVE passion or zeal, like envy – that’s a corrupt passion rooted in hate). Passion or zeal is tied to following the Lord, and the gifts of the Spirit. This passion is closely associated with love. This is why what you love or have passion for is what you will most easily access in revelation. Do you see how unleashing the genius in you is not all God, and its certainly not all you, but its you and the Lord working together with imagination, curiosity and love or passion?

Imagination, curiosity, passion. Three great aspects of the mind or soul that begin to open up the spirit and release the genius of Christ in you. But there are two more great realities that can help you release the genius within – the state of pureheartedness, and the great gift of tongues.

Sin is stupid. I l love to preach this to Americans because American hate being stupid almost as much as they hate losing at anything (You got to know your audience!). Sin is insidious because it robs us of our pure hearts. I just got through watching the REACHER series on prime video, and I loved the Lee Child books because the character Reacher in his own unsaved carnal way is purehearted. His momma always challenged him to do what is right as he perceives it. And Reacher always wins. Don’t let your pure heart be stolen – it’s actually traded, not stolen – because it is the platform from which God works in your life. Remember – say it with me – sin is stupid!

One of the great miracles I’ve seen along this line occurred in the border town of Busia, Kenya a while back. A couple, a man and wife, whose hearts had been broken by treachery and villainy had everything restored when their hearts became pure again. We set out from Mwanza Tanzania at 6pm to travel to Busia because I was scheduled to preach there at 4pm the next day. The twenty-two-hour trip was most eventful! We had two blowouts on the Landcruiser that was taking us to the Kenya border, then we had to wake up the border officials to get us across the border, then we had to catch public means to Busia, arriving about 2pm. I looked like something the cat dragged in. I was preaching at 4pm. In the shower I said, “Lord, what should I preach on?” I always seem to get revelation in the shower. He said, “Preach on Me as the Healer of broken hearts!” Ok. I have fun preaching to three hundred dear ones on Jesus being the Healer of broken hearts! Then I give an altar call for salvation. NO ONE comes up! I’m thinking, “Lord?” Holy Spirit says, “WHAT did I have you preach on?” Oh. “How many have a broken heart?” The whole crowd stands up!

The couple invited me to their very nice home about five days after that meeting to share their testimony. When I had led the crowd through forgiveness that night, glorious bedlam had broken out as the Spirit of God fell like lightning and thunder. People were crying and weeping as the Healer of broken hearts took control of the meeting! The man shared how he owned a bread factory and had run for local political office from a political party that was not in favor with the central government. Two days before the election gangsters had broken in at midday and destroyed his bread factory. They were never caught. Then he lost the election, and the insurance company refused to pay his claim. He was bitter. Everything seemed lost!

Then they forgave from their hearts that night at the crusades. Everything turned RIGHT in their hearts. Then the insurance company called the next day, after months of denials, saying they would pay all his claims. Everything was restored when their hearts were made whole again. Purehearted!

For with stammering lips and another tongue He will speak to this people, to whom He said, “This is the rest with which You may cause the weary to rest,” and, “This is the refreshing”; Isa 28:11-12 NKJV

Finally, speaking much in tongues. A great man of God taught me once that the greatest cargoes of llfe come in over quiet seas. When it’s stormy the great ships don’t enter the ports – too dangerous – but when it is quiet, peaceful on the sea then the great ships come into the harbor. Its like that with releasing the genius of Christ. When you get quiet within, then God can show up in glory and wisdom. Speaking in tongues brings the rest whereby the weary can rest and be refreshed. So many times the Lord has shown me creative ideas, solutions to impossible problems, and answers to prayer when I’ve just sat quietly in His presence, praying in the Spirit. Don’t you want to pray right now?

Imagination. Curiosity. Passion. Pureheartedness. The great gift that is so despised, but so honored among those who KNOW! The genius within, the greatness of Christ in you, can be released through you to meet the needs of a dry and weary world. I sat in the doorway of our first school in Ndele, Central African Republic watching little girls carrying five gallon jerricans of water on their heads, tears in their eyes, and I thought about the water that freely flows from our taps at home. I said, “Lord, how long until these live like I do at home?” He said, “How long does it take for My Spirit to move? I’m WAITING FOR THEM!” The Lord is waiting for you and I to release His genius in our lives, bringing Heaven to earth. Unleash the creative genius within you…you’ll be blessed. Love you!
