THE ROCK OF AGES

Your words were found, and I ate them, and Your word was to me the joy and rejoicing of my heart; Jer 15:16 NKJV

Trust. It’s a teacher’s currency; without it you might as well be talking to empty chairs. If a teacher can’t be trusted, then the bond that is necessary to truly teach is broken or perhaps was never there. All stories are subjective. If twenty people watch a singular event, then you may have twenty different stories about that event. But I value my listeners and my integrity, so I spend my currency as faithfully as I am able. When I tell a story, it will be told subjectively from my point of view, but it will be as faithful to the facts as I can muster, because I so value your trust.

Trust. It is the absolute bedrock of all relationships. Since our Lord wants us to be in relationship with Him, He is constantly concerned with developing our level of trust in Him. Make no mistake about it! He seeks to get us to trust in Him much more than we seek to trust in Him. That’s why the sun’s rise is so precise that it can be accurately computed ten thousand years in the past, and the future. The parade of the equinox can be measured and anticipated with precision. Two plus two always equals four. How could it equal anything else? All of His works point to His integrity. All the words of His Word, which He magnified above all His name, above all His creation, glisten with that integrity as well.

The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy… John 10:10 NKJV

Covid, its demonic origin and the demonic preplanned response to it has so damaged peoples trust in all institutions, including the Church, and the God whom the Church represents, that trust must be our paramount concern to rekindle and renew. Trusting God must equal trusting His Word. How do we know Him but by His word? Experiences are subjective. ‘Holy Ghost goose bumps’ are eerily similar to goosebumps from other sources. There’s a Hindu ‘prophet’ who slays people in the spirit, seemingly just like your favorite evangelist. We have to build our foundation on the Rock of ages, the Word of God. Then our experiences will reignite our trust!

…knowing this first, that no prophecy of Scripture is of any private interpretation,  for prophecy never came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit. 2 Peter 1:20-21 NKJV

My first bible teacher had the insight to share that man’s most basic spiritual problem was the integrity of God’s Word. Did God say what He meant, and mean what He said? Is His Word true? Did ancient manuscripts, passed down over many centuries, still have the integrity of the original? Can we trust the Bible? Yes…and he proceeded to show us why!

Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it. Prov 22:6 NKJV

I believe one great reason the children of believers fail to become believers themselves is because they see their parents struggle with faith. Young minds are little sponges, young hearts are blank slates. They see ‘I prayed and got no answer’ or ‘I claimed this promise and saw no result’ or ‘It worked for them but not for me.’ This is heartbreaking because it is so unnecessary. The fault for this situation lies not with God, or with the believer, or even the devil, but with those of us who are fivefold ministers because we have not taught AND TRAINED the people to believe God.

Provide neither gold nor silver nor copper in your money belts, nor bag for your journey, nor two tunics, nor sandals, nor staffs; for a worker is worthy of his food. Matt 10:9-10 NKJV

The great technique of teaching and training is to take the abstract and make it concrete. Jesus, the great Rabboni (Master Teacher), used a mountain (concrete) and a fig tree (concrete) or even a mustard seed (concrete) to teach faith (abstract). Jesus sent out the twelve and the seventy to train them to believe God. Trust, confidence, faith and joyous enthusiasm was built when they saw the demonstration in their own hands of what the Master taught!

And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus. Phil 4:19 NKJV

A Texas farmer contacted our bible college saying that he needed workers to harvest onions and, if we would come, he would donate the proceeds from the harvest to the college. My hand was one of the first to go up! We hitchhiked in pairs from central Kansas, through Oklahoma, to Dallas Texas, then west through Amarillo and finally south to the farm, with no money. We met truck drivers at truck stops and sought their help. I said to one driver, as we approached Amarillo in his big eighteen-wheeler, “Captain, you’ve fed us and carried us all the way from Dallas and given us your best. We want to give you our best – Jesus!” He prayed with us to receive Him. The harvest was plenteous, in more ways than one, and the BC paid off my student debt, as well as all the other pickers…joyous, faith building training!

Be still, and know that I am God; Ps 46:10 NKJV

The great error in the Church has been to separate the Word from the Spirit. The Word cannot be demonstrated, thus building faith and trust, without the Spirit, and the Spirit must be rooted in the Word to keep the genuine separated from the counterfeit. Why do we pray and not get answers? One great reason is that we have not been trained to listen to God. The Holy Spirit, and Dr. Jack Tuls taught me to listen to God openly, without anxiety and without an agenda. If you learn the art of listening, the Lord can reveal the answer to any problem, any need, and it will be an answer that brings the promise of God into manifestation to the greatest possible degree. The ball, as they say, is in your court…

Blessed are those who keep His testimonies, who seek Him with the whole heart! Ps 119:2 NKJV

Fifty years of ministry has taught me that the Word of God is true, and that 98% of people’s problems are due to what I call spiritual starvation – the lack of the Word living in someone’s life. The Word is to dwell in us richly (Col. 3:16). The Word will clean up our sinful habits and dark, deadly attitudes (Ps.119:9-11). The Word will build our faith (Rom 10:17). The Word will fill us with purpose, confidence, love and boldness, and eliminate fear, loneliness and hopelessness. The Word will do the work of transforming our lives, if we allow the Holy Spirit to use His masterpiece, the written Word, to do it. Sit your little self down and read the Word out loud…you’ll slap your own cheek for not doing it sooner!

Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock:  25 and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock. Matt 7:24-25 NKJV

Banks are going under; war grows in eastern Europe and China looks menacingly at Taiwan. Politicians are incredibly corrupt. Institutions are failing, and thanks to Tiktok, Johnny wants to be a girl or maybe an animal. Elections are stolen, our major cities are war zones. A planned pandemic kills tens of millions through starvation and vaccines, and trillions of dollars in wealth is destroyed worldwide. Men’s hearts are failing them for fear, and vaccine poisoning! But our Christ, whose word is the Rock of ages, still stands fast, unmoved and still our refuge. Run to the Rock, dear one, and take your neighbor whom you love with you! All things will work together for the greatest possible result because we love Him and pray in the spirit, while standing on the Rock. Amen? Love you!

Remember dear ones, we must be about our Father’s business…
