Dear Ones, I’m writing articles for a devotional that we are developing on the gifts of the Spirit. But I felt like this article had an anointing on it that would speak to people and situations right now, so I felt I should get it out. Hope you enjoy it…love to all! KRP
STEP BY STEP
Moreover the word of the Lord came to me, saying, “Jeremiah, what do you see?” And I said, “I see a branch of an almond tree.” Then the Lord said to me, “You have seen well, for I am ready to perform My word.” Jer 1:11-12 NKJV
Word of Knowledge is spiritual knowledge about the physical realm, just as discerning of spirits is spiritual knowledge about the spiritual realm. One time the Lord said, “The old spirit of the village chief has gone into the pastors,” a statement that, unfortunately, has proven to be true. This is an example of the Lord revealing the realities of the spiritual realm by the discerning of spirits.
My first real experience with the word of knowledge involved not knowing the mailing address of the Christian ministry to whom I was sending a tithing check. I didn’t know their street address, or have their phone number, so I asked the Lord quietly, sat down and waited for His reply with my eyes closed. After a moment or two I clearly saw their address in ‘my mind’s eye,’ actually my spirit. I sent the check, they received it and everyone was blessed.
And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus. Now to our God and Father be glory forever and ever. Amen. Phil 4:19-20 NKJV
The purpose of the word of knowledge is to make the promises of God come alive in your life. You have a need. God promises to supply that need. Period. End of story. He must show you by revelation how to get that need met. It gives Him glory when you look to Him and He meets your need!
Now the serpent…and he said (hiss!) to the woman, “Has God indeed said…?” Gen 3:1 NKJV
Now I understand as a teacher of the gifts of the Spirit that religion – hiss! the snaky snake! – has gone a long way to try to vindicate unbelief, because unbelief, or the lack of results, exposes religion for what it is, a sad substitute for true faith. Religion makes all kinds of excuses about why God doesn’t answer His promises. Religion always seeks to degrade and destroy the word of God. Hiss! When you think of religion, think of the snake…
But the word of knowledge, with the word of wisdom answers the questions – where do I go? What do I do? How do I get my need met?
An example from history – Alvin York, perhaps the most highly decorated combat soldier in history. When Alvin was drafted into the US Army in early 1917, the USA was in a war with the Axis powers of Europe. Before he reported for duty, he took three days to meet with the Lord (this story is told in AMERICAN COURAGE by Herbert W Warden III).
And whatever things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive. Matt 21:22 NKJV
He had two questions to ask of the Lord. It was his need to get these questions answered. The first one was, Was the war just? And secondly, would he come home alive? He wanted to be able to prepare his mother, either way. The Lord answered the man of God. Yes, the war was just, and yes, he would come home alive. So practical, so simple!
He then fought with such confidence, that at one point 127 German soldiers surrendered to him, after being convinced they were fighting a much larger army. Angels were fighting alongside Alvin because he was a man of God. What about you?
Faith for revelation begins with believing the written Word of God. You say, “Lord, I see it in Your Word. Now show me how I can manifest that promise in my life.” Many times, the answer will be so simple that it will shock you!
And his servants came near and spoke to him, and said, “My father, if the prophet had told you to do something great, would you not have done it? How much more then, when he says to you, ‘Wash, and be clean’?” 2 Kings 5:13-14 NKJV
Old Naaman the Syrian needed healing. The answer that Elisha the prophet gave him was so simple that he almost walked away from it. He was offended by the simplicity of the revelation! Thankfully, he was surrounded by counselors that had the courage to tell him to quit being so stupid and do what the prophet said! It takes courage to believe revelation, and it takes courage to tell others to believe the revelation.
However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come. John 16:13 NKJV
The Lord speaks to your inner man, which has five spiritual senses, just like your outer man. Listen! The Lord will give you revelation just to teach you how He gives you revelation if you will submit yourself to His training. Like Jeremiah, I am personally a ‘vision’ guy. I see things in the spirit more readily than my other spiritual senses. But I can receive through my other senses. My wife is more about ‘dreams’ and ‘feelings.’ When she doesn’t feel right about something, it is a big red flag!
“Is not My word like a fire?” says the Lord, “And like a hammer that breaks the rock in pieces? Jer 23:29 NKJV
Two great, great avenues to building your faith for revelation that brings in the fruit – pray much in tongues, and meditate in the Word! You meditate in the Word until the Word starts to move in you. Unbelief tends to build a crust around our hearts until it becomes hard. God’s Word will be like a hammer to break through that hardness and set your heart free!
Give us this day our daily bread. Matt 6:11 NKJV
Our great weakness is that we will not slow down enough to hear the voice of the Lord and get the revelation manna, our daily bread, as my friend Paul has taught so eloquently, which we are to receive DAILY, that we need to live abundantly! God is exalted when we receive revelation and manifest His promises.
Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth! Ps 46:10 NKJV
This teaching is so simple that you have to get it. Slow down, get quiet and walk it out step by step to get the promises of God manifested in your life. ALL THINGS are possible to him who believes. God will be glorified and He will be exalted in the earth! Love you!
Remember dear ones, we must be about our Father’s business…
